A few readers have reported a strange issue where display brightness is stuck near the maximum level after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.10.

One reader writes:

"After applying 10.4.10 (and I tried several times with delta, then combo, then reinstallation and combo before anything else). Brightness is stuck at almost maximum level and brightness control keys do not work anymore just like slider in monitor preferences."

Another adds:

"After applying 10.4.10 v.1.1 there is no more way to dim display brightness which is stuck (in my case) at maximum level) F1 & F2 keys do not provide any change anymore."
