Charles Srtska's Pacifistutility has been upgraded to version 2.5. Pacifist is one of the power user utilities that we here at MacFixIt couldn't function without. It allows you to peek into an installer file (extension .pkg) and even to extract and install individual components that it contains. This tool has allowed users to perform many otherwise impossible tasks, such as reverting to earlier versions of individual components when an Apple system update has unexpected results, or replacing individual system components that have mysteriously vanished from your disk. We also use it to learn precisely what components a system update is replacing. Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" brings with it a completely new installer file format which earlier versions of Pacifist cannot handle, so this upgrade, which is free for registered users, is recommended for everyone. Pacifist is just $20, and worth every penny.
