MacFixIt reader Quentin Smets writes:

"The update caused my mac to kernel panic while booting and thus making my G5 useless. Repairing the disk and permissions with Disk Utility on the Leopard DVD solved the problem."

Enough said.

You have no idea whether repairing the filesystem or permissions were the problem and you say "Enough said."?

You've clearly got a chip on your shoulder about something because this is the least informative post I've seen on the site.

This site has gone to absolute crap. It's bad enough that Cnet hasn't opened all the content for free, but of the articles one can see for free now, they're completely devoid of expert knowledge and information.

    Sad really.

I want to add that I did just this task and it appears as though my 10.5.2 system problems are behind me now. I've gone for my longest stretch yet under this update with no problem. I'm still gun shy, but so far no random shut downs with online video or work in Photoshop CS3. I've been graced with flawless updates since Panther, but this latest increment of Leopard finally got me. This site and it's forums have been a great source of knowledge and now that I have hit the skids a little, what I've learned here has really come in handy.
