Streaming data issues under Mac OS X 10.5.5 and QuickTime 7.5.5

Several users have reported significant issues with a variety of media streaming processes after applying Mac OS X 10.5.5 and QuickTime 7.5.5.

One reader writes:

"Sometime right after updating to QT 7.5.5 and OS X 10.5.5 I began having problems with certain streaming data. Specifically, SlingPlayer stops playing after anywhere from a few to 20 minutes. It never reconnects until I quit / restart. Likewise, if I stream radio from iTunes, it stops after a few to 20 minutes as well. It says it is rebuffering, but like SlingPlayer it is never able to recover until relaunched. After reading your coverage I decided to try an iChat video session. Same deal. All three of these apps worked fairly consistently before the recent round of Apple updates. All three involve internet streaming. Hmmm."

Similar issues afflict Apple TV streaming after the updates.

With regard to iTunes-streaming issues, some users have pointed their fingers at iTunes 8, noting that earlier iterations of the software do not exhibit similar issues.

We're currently investigating this problem. If you are experiencing similar issues, please let us know.
