"is it a bug in Mail or a deliberate roadblock that no matter what I try, there seems to be no way to delete the Apple Hot News feed? I can delete the contents of the folder, but not the folder itself. It is insidious and appears to have no visible remedy for its removal."After numerous attempts on my Mac here at MacFixIt, as well as my personal computer, I could not replicate the issue. Generally, when deleting an RSS Feed in Mail it is as simple as right-clicking (ctrl click) on the feed name and choosing "Delete Feed".
Rick wrote us back today with a solution he discovered:
"Found the solution. Went into my user>Library>Mail folder and deleted the RSS folder. Re-launched Mail and created a new RSS folder...with no Apple feed. Simple solutions make me feel stupid when it takes me so long to figure it out. Thanks again for your help."Of course, we always recommend securing a stable backup of all your data before experimenting with deleting any preference files or folders.
