We previously reported on two significant issues in the version 12.0 release of Extensis Suitcase Fusion.

The first involved a problem where fonts become distorted upon printing with the presence of Suitcase Fusion, and the second involved problems creating PDF files in Adobe applications after installing Suitcase Fusion.

Extensis told us that version 12.0.1 of the software, released this week, fixes these issues for the most part.

The company told us:

"We at Extensis have just released Suitcase Fusion (v12.0.1), which offers a fix for the 2nd issue (creating PDFs) described on the page described in the message header, and may help with the first one (distorted fonts). "

Among the specific fixes included in this release:

  • Face level font activation now works for fonts that are added in-place when you move fonts to a new location on the same volume.
  • When you import a previous database that contains permanently activated fonts, Suitcase Fusion now continues to operate.
  • Fonts that are added to Suitcase Fusion in-place can be activated using Face level activation, even when their location path is longer than 255 characters.
  • You can now open PDF files that contain Font Sense data which were previously
  • System font conflicts are now resolved properly in QuarkXPress 6.x, Adobe Illustrator CS, CS2, and InDesign CS and CS2.
  • Auto-activating a base weight of certain fonts no longer causes all fonts with a name matching the base weight to be activated.
