QuickBooks 2006: Printing issues

by CNET staff

MacFixIt reader Joyce reports an issue with printed output from QuickBooks 2006 for which we are seeking confirmation.

Joyce writes:

"I'm working with my new iMac Intel Duo Core and have installed QuickBooks 2006. It all seemed to be working fine until I went to print reports (a function that should work in a financial program!). The 'shrink to fit' function refuses to work, meaning a one page report ends up with the columns divided between two pages. I've literally spent at least 5 hours on the phone to Intuit, and no one can seem to figure it out - all the techs say it should work. I checked with HP to assess if the printer might be the problem, but my new 3210 is working fine in all aspects."

MacFixIt reader Don Hamilton reports some additional printing issues with QuickBooks 2006 R4:

"I have a different printing issue. Since the R4 upgrade my receipts print with boxes around them, even though I have blank paper (no boxes) selected.

"Intuit support had no answer. I went back to R3 and this works again.

"Shrink to fit has not worked correctly for me since QuickBooks 2005 if I recall correctly. I just tried it again to no avail. QuickBooks was terribly buggy. 2006 is better, but still some weird bugs. Quick fill sometimes does not work correctly, for example. It brings up the old info, and if I override the data--such as entering a new amount in the paid column for a check, sometimes when I hit record the old amount re-appears and is saved. This happened consistently in 2005, sporadically in 2006. Intuit had no answer except to turn off quick fill."
