Mac OS X 10.4.6 Special Report: Update Installer cannot find destination drive
Some users have reported an issue where the Mac OS X 10.4.6 installer is not able to locate a proper target installation volume.
In some cases, this issue can be resolved by running the fsck (file system check/repair) function while booted into Single user mode.
If you are experiencing this issue, try the following:
- Restart your Mac, while holding down the Command and S keys to start into Single User Mode.
- At the prompt, type: fsck -yf and press return.
- After the process runs, you should see a message indicating that your default startup disk is "OK". If not, run the command again until the "OK" message appears.
- Next type reboot and press return.
- Your system will restart.
Try running the installer again after these steps, and check for persistence of the issue.
