Apple releases Keyboard Update 1.0 for Intel-based Macs

by CNET staff

Apple has released a keyboard/mouse/trackpad update for Intel-based Macs.

The cryptic release notes state that that the update -- labeled 1.0 -- "addresses reliability of keyboard and mouse functionality."

However, initial in-house testing and reader reports indicate that this update improves keyboard responsiveness MacBook Pros -- potentially eliminating an issue where the left Shift key does not respond.

Unfortunately, a handful of users also report this update undoes some of the potential fixes for the extensively covered whining noise issue associated with some MacBook Pros.

The update applies to the MacBook Pro, iMac and Mac mini running Mac OS X 10.4.6.

For more information, and a download link, see VersionTrackers's Keyboard Update 1.0 product page.

After instaling the keyboard update I can no longer just tun on / off the mirror
widget to make the buzzing sound go away. I have to leave the camera on all
time hurting my battery life and system perfomance to make the sound go
    away.

Maybe this solves the problems with BootCamp where you have to disconnect
and reconnect the keyboard to make it work again on the Windows side.
