Most .jpe files do work with 6.0.4 We previously reported that some users were still having issues working with .jpe files under iPhoto 6.0.4. However, most users now report that this version fixes the most serious issues when working with these files -- particularly an unexpected quit that occurred when double-clicking their thumbnails.

MacFixIt reader Mike Pearson writes:

"This was a problem that cropped up with the release of 6.0.3. When shooting .jpe files (with the embedded AdobeRGB color gamut information) iPhoto would crash as soon as it encountered these files during import. I just installed 6.0.4 and was able to shoot and import .jpe files again.

"Others had been experiencing the problem with existing images in their iPhoto Library; since the import is working again I would think that the library problems would also be cleared up."

Problems with RAW photos MacFixIt reader Pat reports a continuing issues with RAW photos imported from a Canon Digital Rebel under iPhoto 6.0.4.

Pat writes:

"iPhoto 6.0.4 still doesn't render RAW photos (Canon Digital Rebel) correctly in edit mode. After a couple of seconds blue skies get banding and red tones get blotchy. Exported photos seem ok. This has been discussed in the Apple forums without a solution for me."

Crashes when clicking on empty album Meanwhile, some users report an issue where iPhoto 6.0.4 crashes when the user attempts to click on an empty album or slideshow.

One reader writes:

"Clicking on an empty album or slideshow (after the contents have been removed) in an attempt to remove the album, has caused consistent crashes. This has been true in at least the two most recent versions. Reported the bug to Apple repeatedly, but no fix as yet."
