Mac OS X 10.4.7 Special Report: Digital camera problems -- not recognized, workaround
Some readers have reported an issue where various digital cameras are not recognized by the system after updating to Mac OS X 10.4.7, failing to automatically transfer images or even refusing to appear in System Profiler.
In some cases, setting the camera to "Printer/PTP" mode then re-connecting it allows photos to be properly transferred to the computer via drag and drop or some applications like iPhoto.
In other cases, you may need to download the latest firmware or driver updates for your camera in order for the device to be recognized and operate properly with Mac OS X. Check your manufacturer's Web site for a download.
