Adobe InDesign 4.0.4 released: Resolves printing, QuickTime 7.x issues

Adobe has released InDesign 4.0.4, a fairly significant maintenance update for the desktop publishing/layout software.

This update for Adobe InDesign CS2 software provides key fixes in the areas of indexing, launch issues, transparency, shortcuts, text and fonts, scripting, inline graphics, InDesign Interchange (INX) files, German hyphenation, XML, library files, performance, QuickTime 7.x support, printing, SING glyphlets, EPS export, text import, and others.

This update also removes a change that was included as part of the InDesign CS2 4.0.3 public update: After you enlarge the canvas size of an image in Adobe Photoshop, the linked image does not enlarge or scale correctly in Adobe InDesign CS2. This change resulted in two new issues that users reported: After changing the canvas size of an image in Adobe Photoshop, the image dimensions are then unexpectedly scaled in InDesign CS2 version 4.0.3 on relink or update of the image link, and JPEG images saved from Photoshop always place at 72ppi. These two new issues no longer occur in the InDesign CS2 4.0.4 update.

This update reportedly resolves some of the issue noted in this previous coverage.

The new release is available as a 40.8 MB standalone download.
