iTunes 5.0 Special Report: Album art not displayed, solutions

by CNET staff

A number of users have reported that iTunes no longer displays some album artwork after the upgrade to iTunes 5.0.

In some cases, a tedious workaround has been successful: Navigate to the iTunes music library (by default located at ~/Music/iTunes/), open the album folder, and open each track individually in iTunes either by double clicking or control-clicking the individual track and selecting "Open with iTunes."

Another workaround requires simply turning album artwork off then back on.

"I've experienced several problems after iTunes upgrades where album artwork does not display properly on my iPod. In the case of iTunes 5, most of my subscribed podcasts and a large number of my music tracks were showing up with the same artwork (from a music track in my collection). The fix in every case where I've had a problem has been to disable the "Display Album Artwork" option in the iPod preferences, sync the iPod, turn the option back on, and sync the iPod again."
