iTunes 5.0.1 Special Report: Distorted/scratchy or popping sound sound

If you are having issues with distorted sound in iTunes 5.0.1, you may want to try downgrading from QuickTime 7.0.2 using Apple's re-installer for QuickTime 7.0.1.

The problem can also be solved, in some cases, by deleting the file com.apple.iTunes.plist from ~/Library/Preferences. Note, however, that you may need to re-establish some iTunes settings after deleting this file.
