Internet Explorer 5.2.3: Unexpectedly quits when saving some pages as Web archives

MacFixIt reader Gabriel Dorado reports that Internet Explorer 5.2.3 unexpectedly quits when trying to save as "web archive" some pages like: http://www.the-scientist.com/yr1995/nov/genome_951127.html.

Dorado writes "No problem when saving as "html source" or as 'plain text.' Safari 1.2.3 cannot save the images on such page and Netscape 7.2 saves them as separate files."

We confirmed this problem with the aforementioned page, but haven't been able to trigger the crash on any other sites.

In the meantime, if you need to use Internet Explorer, there are a couple of third-party applications that do a relatively good job of archiving pages for later viewing:
