Mail.app does not correctly flag draft reply messages
MacFixIt reader Stephen Becker reports a deficiency in Apple's Mail.app that causes messages to not be flagged properly -- as replied to -- when they are first saved as drafts. In other words, only messages that are triggered as replies and sent immediately are recorded properly.
Stephen writes:
"For users that find it important to keep track of which emails they have responded to, I've found a serious usability bug in Apple's Mail application (confirmed by Apple's tech support). This bug affects users of both Jaguar and Panther.
"When replying to email, Apple's Mail client is supposed to place a flag next to the email that is being replied to. However, if the reply is saved as a draft and then sent at a later time, the flag does not appear.
"Tech support indicated that the chance of getting the bug fixed will be greater if more people report the problem."
This issue will likely require a software update from Apple.
