Tales of a Mac mini switcher New York Times writer Dwight Silverman took Apple's challenge and switched from a Pentium-based system to a Mac mini, noting some bumps along the road: "In doing so, I found I really missed using Windows. I missed the layout, the look-and-feel, the ability to tweak and futz with impunity, the endless supply of freeware and shareware. While the Mac was pretty, simple and easy to use, I constantly felt like I was having to battle constraints to use it. As a result, I only lasted 10 days with the mini. I wasn't displeased with it. But it just didn't feel like home." More.

Another desktop publishing revolution? Publish speculates on the coming of a second desktop publishing revolution, noting that the Mac OS (which was instrumental in the first DTP revolution) will again play a strong hand "Walk into any publishing house today, and you will probably find an unbelievable hodgepodge of production methods: QuarkXPress 3.2 (yes, it's still out there), QuarkXPress 4.x running on 10-year-old Macs, QuarkXPress 4.x running on a brand new G5 in Classic mode, InDesign, FrameMaker, PageMaker, you name it. Apple settles Eminem lawsuit The Register reports that Apple has settled its other music-centric lawsuit, with Eminem. "The two parties have reached an out-of-court settlement, it emerged this week. Apple will pay the rapper's recording company, Eight Mile Style, an undisclosed sum, lawyers said yesterday. The settlement was described as 'amicable'." More.
