Apple has released Security Update 2005-007 for client and server editions of both Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Mac OS X 10.3.9.

Among the components of Mac OS X affected by this release are:

  • AppKit
  • BlueTooth
  • CoreFoundation
  • cups
  • Directory Services
  • HIToolBox
  • Kerberos
  • loginwindow
  • Mail
  • OpenSSL
  • QuartzComposerScreenSaver
  • Security Interface
  • Safari
  • X11
  • zlib

For a full list of security enhancements by product version, see Knowledge Base article #302163.

Download links are as follows:

  • Security Update 2005-007 (Mac OS X 10.3.9 Client) [13.3 MB]
  • Security Update 2005-007 (Mac OS X 10.3.9 Server) [26.9 MB]
  • Security Update 2005-007 (Mac OS X 10.4.2 Client) [16.7 MB]
  • Security Update 2005-007 (Mac OS X 10.4.2 Server) [19.9 MB]

As usual, we recommend that users avoid performing any other operations (in Mac OS X or third-party applications) while the update process is occurring.

In addition, before installing this security update, make sure all Apple-installed applications and utilities are in their original locations. Moving one of these applications to a different location on your hard drive can lead to an incomplete update.

Finally, we recommend that users disconnect any FireWire/USB devices before applying Mac OS X 10.4.2, then re-connect the devices one by one after the update process is complete and the system has restarted.
