Radeon Failure after PRAM Zap; TurboTax Offers
Radeon Failure after PRAM Zap Ben Ralston reports an odd problem that caused his ATI Radeon 7000 series graphics card to fail after resetting his Power Mac 9600's PRAM.
"I could regularly reproduce a problem with my ATI Radeon Mac Edition (original, not 7000) in which after a PRAM zap, the card would simply not be recognized by the system. No video, no monitor sync, and Apple System Profiler would report its PCI slot as empty. It literally didn't exist from the system's perspective. I would have to remove the card from the slot for an extended period of time, and then re-insert it for it to be recognized again. I figure the card must retain some settings on-board that zapping PRAM corrupts. However, this time my card won't come back to life after trying the usual fixes as well as pressing/holding the cuda switch on my Power Mac 9600."
