Netscape browser bug identified by WebSTAR; Server Suite prevents it

by CNET staff
Eric Zelenka (WebSTAR Product Manager for StarNine Technologies) describes a bug in Netscape browsers that can causevarious errors when loading a page. He notes that pages served by WebSTAR Server Suite will not have this problem:
There is a known bug in all Netscape browsers which will cause a connection error to occur of the End Of Header (i.e. \r\n\r\n) falls on a 256, 257, or 258 byte boundary. This may cause connection related problems (errors to be displayed, images fail to load, etc.) with some files. This problem may appear intermittently as a files header size can change depending on the information contained within (time/date, number of header fields, etc.)

WebSTAR Server Suite 4.0 has been updated to deal with this Netscape browser bug. The WebSTAR Web server now looks at all outgoing file requests and pads the header to include a new X-BrowserAlignment: problem\r\n" header if needed.
