FAXstf AutoPrint bug According to Andrew Lipka, STF Tech Support confirms that the updater from FAXstf 5.0 to 5.0.2 introduces a new bug: AutoPrinting doesn't work. The only workaround is to go back to 5.0. STF claims it will be fixed in the next version, coming soon.
Command -C does not always work? Scott Crumpton has found that the Command-C shortcut to copy text does not always work the first time you try it. This seems to occur in all versions of Mac OS 8 (and maybe even earlier). He has now heard from several other users with the same symptom. Add me to the group. I had always assumed that it was my fault (maybe I didn't really press the keys as I thought). But now I am wondering if it is actually an OS problem. For me, it happens most often when copying-and-pasting across applications. It fails the first time, but works on the second or third try. I never noticed this problem until Mac OS 8.1.
Navigation Services dialog box glitch There is an odd glitch in the new Navigation Services dialog boxes. If you name a folder to start with a hyphen (-), the folder number will be grayed out and not selectable in the dialog box's popup menu. (Thanks, Ian Kelleigh.)
Small print and LaserWriter 300 Two readers, Dick Heller and Dick Fowler, report getting microscopic small print when printing email or Netscape 4.5 pages to a LaserWriter Select 300. We had previously noted a similar problem with Epson printers. The solution there was: "Choose 'Page Setup' in Navigator, and disable 'Fit to page if possible' in the ensuing Epson dialog box." Perhaps there is a similar solution here.
Drive Setup 1.6.1 does not fix PB copy problem for large files? Drive Setup 1.6.1 was supposed to fix a problem with copying files from certain PowerBooks in SCSI Disk mode. However, Kurt Tappe reports that he still has the problem when copying large files. Smaller files work okay.
Zip news: USB drive; 250Mb drive Iomega announced the shipping of the 100Mb USB version of its Zip drive. It then announced that a new 250Mb version of the Zip drive (presumably with USB and non-USBvariations) was coming before the end of 1998.
