Federal forms come to Tax Cut

by CNET staff

Yesterday we reported that Kiplinger has yet to release state tax forms for the Macintosh version of Tax Cut. We also received several user complaints that some federal forms are also not available. When attempting to file, users were presented with the message:

"Inconsistency: When we released TaxCut, Charitable Worksheet was not yet finalized. A program update containing the final form will be available in mid-January. Please update your program at that time, then come back to Error Check so we can view your return again. To update your program, close Error Check and select Update TaxCut from the Tools menu. You must fix this problem before filing."

Calls to Kiplinger's have resulted in projected an actual release date of February 15th for the federal forms. However, the files have apparently been released early, as users reported late last night that they were able to file their federal forms using this updater: ftp://blocktemp2.cam-colo.bbnplanet.com/pub/tcdownload/2002/tcmuppb.bin

State forms are estimated for delivery at the end of this month.
