Strange screensaver problems We previously noted some problems with Mac OS X 10.2.6's ability to properly put a display to sleep when the system itself enters sleep mode automatically. We have now received corroborating reports indicating some strange problems with screensaver activation via hot corners.

It seems that after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.2.6, some users are unable to activate screensavers via the upper left hand corner when using "hot corners." Strangely, switching to other corners (and de-selecting the upper left hand corner) will allow screensaver activation for this handful of affected users.

Memory leak? While these cases can generally be attributed to third party applications or specific individual configurations, we have received a few consistent reports indicating that memory usage increases significantly over time after updating to Mac OS X 10.2.6.

Users who have been monitoring memory usage with utilities like MenuMeters are noticing a significant decrease in available memory after long periods of system idle time.

We are attempting to isolate potential third party culprits based on individual reader reports. In the meantime, please e-mail us if you are noticing appreciable available memory loss after applying the Mac OS X 10.2.6 updater.
