Troubleshooting FAXstf X 10.1.2: Disabled after installation

If you install the 10.1.2 updater while FaxSTF Pro is disabled ("default state" and "current state" set to disabled and "Fax Setup" set to not activate at startup), in some cases it will result in permanently preventing you from accessing FaxSTF preferences and permanently prevent you from selecting "Modem Setup." This, of course, prevents you from being able to reactivate FaxSTF pro.

MacFixIt reader Marty Snyder writes:

"I had to remove everything I could locate on my hard drive relating to FaxSTF and Smith Micro, re-install a fresh copy of FaxSTF Pro, and update with FaxSTF Pro activated for the updater to work successfully."

I found I could launch FAXstf correctly but there is no way I can specify it
in the print center. According to the instructions and the website
FaxPrint is to be an option in the pop up menu. It isnt on mine. I wonder
if this is the same problem.
I wrote SmithMicro but have received no reply

I had the same problem. Was able to fix it by deleting the print center
    preferences...file path ~/Library/Preferences/
com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist and relaunching the Print Center (a new
preference file is created on relaunch). The
only problem I am having now is that there are two (2) FAXstf listing in
the Add drop down menu. One of them is blank and the other has the
    Fax Printer listed.

The listed Fax Printer can be added and functions properly.

I am working with Smithmicro to see what is causing the two items
    instead of a single one.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunateyl this fix didn't work for me. The list was recreated on
starting PrintCenter (at least there was a lot of disk accessing) but
FaxSTF still did not appear in the 'add' list.

make sure you go to printer center and Add the Fax printer. I noticed after updating i had to re-add the Fax printer, and it works fine.
