Troubleshooting Stuffit Deluxe 7.0.3: Workaround for updater issues

by CNET staff

Several readers have been experiencing problems moving from StuffIt Deluxe 7.0.1 to version 7.0.3 using the recently posted updater software.

For users affected by this problem, the installer quits when the StuffIt Deluxe 7.0 folder is selected from the presented dialog box. The following message is returned:

"StuffIt Deluxe 7.0 was not found on your computer. The updater will now quit."

Aladdin Systems' support team offers the following workaround:

"I saw some people go through something like this with the 7.0.1 update as well. The typical remedy that I used (with pretty consistent success) was to remove their Stuffit Engine Shell.cfm (located in /Library/CFM Support), and their Stuffit Deluxe Folder. I'd then have them reinstall Stuffit Deluxe 7.0 and then run the update."
