When are they going to put USB and other ports on the front or somewhere accessible instead of trying to fiddle around behind the iMac????

That actually makes me realize there's an interesting untapped market here... The "big screen with a computer inside" market.

Why not make a 51 inch monitor, with a Mac inside ? connectors and DVD ports on the side, remote keyboard and mouse, and maybe a touchscreen version while you're at it.

Huge screens are already a hi-end product, in-line with Apple's niche.

It would also fit nicely with Apple's reputation for quality and entertainment-related products. It would be sort of the big model at the end of the iPod (or tablet?) line... with users being able to use both OSX and switch to the iPod/iPhone OS (or the simplified interface of Front Row)

My daughter purchased the new 27" iMac this past weekend from the local Best Buy store. They threw in Mobile Me at no charge and also made it possible to apply for the $30 rebate as well. Not a bad deal. It's an mazing machine off the shelf. The display is gorgeous, the industrial design superb, and at 3.06 Ghz it's a real screamer. With the 1TB HD and 4GB of RAM, along with all the usual stuff like Bluetooth, WiFi, GB ethernet, USB, FW800 and such it's cheaper than the 24" iMac I bought in July '08 with lesser specs. We don't feel that we're paying any Apple "tax" at all. This is a wonderful machine for the price in our opinion.

Why is a pointer to regular CNET news articles the top headline on MacFixit? It thought you'd give MacFixit at least a few months before you screwed it up.

Happy birthday, but won't it be your birthday at the time of the 53rd episode? Maybe you missed one at Christmas last year. Anyway, keep on biting.

Is anybody else besides me annoyed by this Brian Tong dude? And, what's up with the hand motions?

Whenever anyone puts on an act it will agree with some folks and not with others. I think he's doing a decent job at the flashy-style presentation, but can see how some people would prefer a more bland NPR-style presentation of material.

The hand motions are a pretty typical learned thing for presenters. Watch Steve Jobs the next time he does a keynote (or check out some of the archives). It's a very "corporate workshop" sort of style - probably derived from the way Chief Steve presents...

Um, those hand motions aren't "pretty typical" for presenters. Maybe if you're a rapper? Really though, I think Brian does a good job but he just needs to tone it down just a tad. His hand motions are very distracting and irritating after a while. His hands together with the fast pace is too frenetic; or maybe frantic? He needs to watch a few tapes of himself, tone it down a tad, "soften" the hand gestures, and he's good to go.
