Apple has released a software update for people who have purchased their new wireless "Magic Mouse" pointing device. The update allows your computer to take full advantage of the features in the new mouse, and is a recommended installation for all Magic Mouse users.

This update is available in two versions, one for Snow Leopard users and one for Leopard users. The respective download locations for the Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0 are the following links:

For Leopard -- OS X 10.5.8 or later is required, and the update for this operating system weighs in at 36.22MB.

For Snow Leopard -- OS X 10.6.1 or later is required, and this update is a little larger at 63.92MB.

If you already use a Magic Mouse the software should be available in Software Update. Not much more information is provided for the update at this time.

The apple software for the magic mouse doesn't work. I have installed 3 times already, but the new scrolling features don't work.

I've been trying to figure this out for 2 hours and I'm having the same problem. In 10 years of using Apple products, I've never had anywhere near this much trouble. I've downloaded the software, installed, and restarted 2x and the new mouse icon shows up, but I just keep seeing the basic mouse settings.

I'm using a Mac Pro with 10.6.1 and there are no updates available.

Very frustrating!!!!

I'm having problem with the new Magic Mouse, it seldom detects the primary button. I have to click several times to make anything happen. Sometime it doesn't seem to work at all. The only recourse is to plug in my one wired USB mouse. I have an iMac running 10.6.1 and have installed the new mouse software v1.0. I've eliminated each one of my auto load login programs one at a time, rebooting each time and none of them see to be at fault. I've erased my plist files for the new mouse, rebooted and still can not get it to function correctly.

Note: I've tried the mouse logging into my other "pristine" Admin accounts and it works A-OK. I don't know what to try next. Any ideas?
