OnyX for Snow Leopard released
The popular system maintenance utility OnyX has been in beta testing for version 2.1 in past month or two, and while it supported Snow Leopard, many incompatibilities still needed to be addressed by the developer. Yesterday the full 2.1 version of OnyX was released, which addressed a number of issues in the previous beta versions, particularly those that pertain to Snow Leopard.
OnyX can be downloaded for free here (Separate versions are tailored for different OS X releases, so download the one for your system): http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html
If you have been using the OnyX beta release, or have been waiting for the final version before using it on Snow Leopard, grab the latest version. I'm a fan of OnyX and use it regularly, especially because it is thorough and free; however, in addition to this program there are a number of other options besides OnyX for running system maintenance routines. Some popular ones include the following:
MainMenu ($20 Shareware)
MacCleanse ($20 Shareware)
Cocktail ($15 Shareware)
Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner ($15 Shareware)

And CNET lets this stuff be posted on their high-falootin site. Sheesh!
iMarc, you do not capitalize the first letter of the word after a comma unless it is a proper noun. As someone that is criticizing an article for spelling, you should at least post a flawless comment. All you have done is proven your own ignorance. Congratulations.
As for the article itself (despite the spelling mistake), I am glad to see Onyx finally get Snow Leopard compatibility. It is one of my favorite utilities on the Mac. It's nice to see Topher tayloring his articles to include great Mac applications.
If you have a previous version of OnyX in the Applications folder, first delete it and then add the OnyX application to the folder. Sometimes access control lists can have odd permissions that will not allow you to overwrite a file, but will allow you to add a new item to a folder.
I generally err on the side of caution when using the propagate permissions feature.

- I've re-downloaded OnyX.app a few times over the last week, kinda like repeatedly pushing the elevator button over and over again because it's not getting here fast enough. Still, the App won't open. Each time I get a "application quit unexpectedly" notification with the option to make a bug report. It was working fine until I got an update notice to download the latest version and now I can't use it at all.

(10 Comments)I use OS X 10.5.8 and update everything when suggested or checking manually.
The latest update for OnyX was for version 2.1.1.
I've attempted to find the OnyX developer without any luck. I'm not the best at finding what I want on the web though. I may have simply missed the proper link.
