Apple Remote: Troubleshooting tips
Common issues to consider when using the Apple Remote:
- Be sure to operate the Apple Remote within 30 feet of your computer.
- Be sure nothing is in the way. The remote needs a direct line of site to your machine.
- Make sure the remote is facing the proper direction. (Yes, that can be the fix sometimes.)
- Be sure your Mac is powered on and awake.
- Navigate to System Preferences > Security > General and be sure the "Disable remote control infrared receiver" check box is unchecked.
