Top 10 cars for traffic tickets
According to a recent study, this truck is more likely to get a traffic ticket than any other car model.
(Credit: Hummer)A study by ISO Quality Planning identified the 10 most ticketed vehicles and the 10 least ticketed. The study puts the Hummer H2 and H3 at the top of the list, followed closely by the Scion tC. Actually, two other Scion models, the xB and xA, also make the top 10 list. A couple of Mercedes-Benz AMG models, the CLK63 and CLS63 also make the list, which shouldn't come as a surprise. The 10 least ticketed cars include a healthy dose of minivans and trucks.
| Most ticketed | Rate | Least ticketed | Rate | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hummer H2/H3 | 463% | Jaguar XJ | 11% | |||
| Scion tC | 460% | Chevrolet Suburban | 16% | |||
| Scion XB | 403% | Chevrolet Tahoe | 21% | |||
| Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG | 397% | Chevrolet C/K 3500/2500 pickup | 28% | |||
| Toyota Solara Coupe | 306% | Buick Park Avenue | 32% | |||
| Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG | 276% | Mazda6 | 34% | |||
| Scion xA | 275% | Buick Rainier | 37% | |||
| Subaru Outback | 266% | Oldsmobile Silhouette | 37% | |||
| Audi A4 | 264% | Buick Lucerne | 40% | |||
| Toyota Matrix | 264% | GMC Sierra C1500 pickup | 40% |
*Violations per 100,000 miles driven, expressed as percentage of average.
The study doesn't specify what kinds of traffic tickets, so there's no telling if Hummers are more likely to speed or run red lights, but you could probably make some reasonable guesses. It also seems unfair to lump the H2 and H3 together.

And as far as my politics are concerned.....wrong again! (wow, batting a 1000 aren't you?)
Don't quit your day job psychic!
I drive a little Saturn SL1, but I don't begrudge anyone who can afford an SUV. Nor have I noticed them to be particularly more annoying a driver than anyone else. But I do recognize self-righteous liberals when I see them. They tend to be the ones who love to call people a$$holes.
I know plenty of cops, you can argue the point all you like...it's true. cops and politicians...nation's most potent abusers of power....wait....really the only ones with power...imagine that....
ZIIIIIIIING.
The cars themselves have little to do with you getting or not getting a ticket, if anything, the color of your car has more to do with it. If you look at that list most of the cars on the right probably outperform all the other cars on the left except maybe the AMG's and the Audi.
I mean you got the Chevy pickups that pull upwards of 320hp, and let me tell you as heavy as those trucks are, they can really move. I have a buddy with at LTZ with the 6.0liter pushing 367hp and he's had his share of tickets.
And Buicks themselves aren't known for being slow, they're just known for having slower drivers.lol
I'm both surprised and not surprised to see all of the Scion's up there. I'm surprised because Scion doesn't exactly exude performance, it's just a brand of customization for a specific targeted audience mostly looking for flash. You'd just never think one of those cars could get going fast enough to get a ticket.lol
I'm not surprised because I have a few friends who drive Scion's and whenever I ride with them, they're always telling me how good their car is and how the engine in the Scion TC is a special prototype (I'm not sure how accurate this is, I never bothered to look it up.lol). Basically they're wannabe tuners. These are the ones who buy their "performance parts" at autozone and pepboys. I'm not criticizing either store, I get my parts from them too, but when it comes to performance parts like intake manifolds, heads, etc, I'll stick with summit racing or some other specialized company.
As for everyone attacking H2/H3 drivers, get over it, we have ****** drivers in every make and model, it's not just SUV drivers who can be A-holes. I mean, I personally would never buy an H2 because I already own a full size SUV in a Suburban, however, if I had the money right not, I'd jump at an H3 because my truck isn't designed for Off-Road. Also, I have no problem with Hummer drivers around town, it's their purchase to make as they like.
I'd like list of most ticketed colors for cars. I'm going to assume that Red is still #1, but I'd like to see how maroon and blue stand up to other colors. I think there was one up here on CNET a few years back.
Experimental engine in the tC? Well, I guess if you call the Toyota Camry's base 2.4 engine experimental then so be it. But, I don't think they mass-produce 'prototypes'.
I guess they can't catch 'em to ticket 'em?

- It's no accident that the Scion's are on the list. The market for these cars is young people. Older fart's like me like them because they are cheap and cheap on gas. I have two of these cars and can tell you I haven't been pulled over in 25 years until I drove the one my 18 year old drives. I've was pulled over 4 times in the first 4 months of owning the car (no tickets issued). I guess having chrome rims and dvd players in the head rests flags me as problem driver all of a sudden? Considering the XB is the car that has the least power of any car I've ever driven/owned in my life, I'd have to say these kid cars are just targets for cops hassling kids because they assume kids are driving them. If anyone out there were followed around every time you got behind the wheel for any amount of time, the cops could find some violation to pull you over for too. I guess for now the younger set needs to buy the silver/tan sedan and blend until your hair is silver/tan .. Just my two cents.
