Driver buys another Ford Fusion after bison crash

Maureen Edgerton, 51, of West Yellowstone, Mont., was driving home April 11, 2009, when she crashed her 2007 Ford Fusion into a herd of bison. The 55-mile-per-hour impact totaled the car and killed several of the migrating animals on the snowbound highway. Edgerton, however, walked away with only minor scrapes and bruises. Impressed by the Fusion's crash protection, safety features, and fuel efficiency, Edgerton has picked the new 2010 Ford Fusion to be her next new vehicle.

"The crash was like a war scene. By the time it was over the hood was smashed in, the mirrors were ripped from the doors and the windshield was shattered, but the interior of the car wasn't affected whatsoever. And the car was still running and not leaking fluid. Not even the tires were deflated. Everyone who came to the scene asked 'what kind of car is this?' because they couldn't believe it was possible to walk away from such a crash," Edgerton said.

This isn't news. This was cut and pasted directly from a Ford press release. You even left in the blatant advertisement of:
"Impressed by the Fusion's crash protection, safety features and fuel efficiency, Edgerton has picked the new 2010 Ford Fusion to be her next new vehicle." -Really? After the crash she was impressed by the fuel economy that she achieved as she crashed through bison?
Also, the headline made me think that she had traded in her Ford Fusion for a bison. I was really hoping that she was commuting on bison-back to work.

Well it was news to me. I had not seen this story. And you complain it was cut and pasted from a Ford press release. Well duh, they plainly state (Source: Ford Motor Company). You call her statement that she was impressed with the Fusion's crash protection and safety features as blatant advertisement. Well if the owner made the statement which I have no reason to not believe considering the circumstances then of course Ford would use this in an add. What is wrong with that? And your statement about fuel economy is downright ignorant. Of course anyone with half a brain knows she was not talking about fuel economy as she crashed through the bison. She owned the car so, she would know it's fuel economy. You wasted space here with your ignorant comment and I wasted space with my comment.
Seems to me the car did very well after the crash, and could still be driven. Pretty good for a compact car which just took out a heard of bison at 55 mph. I think Ford's point is well taken. But you can't grasp that as you only wanted to be cute and end up looking foolish.

This is an advertisement and not news. Buy a Toyota.

Her best decision was not Fusion. It was to use seat belts. That's hat saved her.

I agree with vinakuma - this is an advertisement, not news (no matter what car company this article is about). If they replace "ford fusion" with "toyota camry" I would still think this is a dumb "article" (I use the word article very loosely here)

Was it the herd or the Fusion which was traveling 55mph? Perhaps Ms. Edgerton should buy a car with better brakes. Or pay attention the road. I surmise it's hard to miss seeing a herd of bison approaching.
