The AVN726e, Eclipse's newest double-DIN DVD/navigation receiver, was making a name for itself even before it was released to the public, as it was named Best of Innovations at CES 2009 in the In-Vehicle Navigation/Telematics/ITS product category. We were too busy being wowed by its sibling, the Eclipse AVN4430, to take notice.

However, after spending time with the AVN726e, we find there's a lot to love about this navigation receiver, including its bright LCD, snappy response times, and particularly its beautiful 3D navigation maps. The maps feature elevation data--so if you go over an overpass, you'll see the road rise on the map--and 3D buildings and landmarks for some major cities. This additional visual data, along with lane guidance, makes the AVN726e a great navigator for drivers who rely on landmarks to get around.

anyone know if this will play mp3s off of DVD? How are the USB and iPod hook ups? Is it a seperate device to mount somewhere for easy access or just cables coming off the back?

The USB connection is a pigtail cable coming off of the back of the unit. The length is pretty generous, so you shouldn't have an issue reaching the glove compartment or center console of most vehicles. iPods connected to the pigtail will playback audio, but an additional cable is required for video playback.

As far as MP3 DVDs are concerned, we weren't able to get the unit to play our MP3 backup DVDs. But when you consider that scrubbing through 4GB of data would probably be faster from a cheap, reusable USB key anyway, we don't really see this as an issue.

So any Preference of this unit as compared to the Kenwood DDX714 Doube Din unit for DVD and music Playback also adding in the Kenwood Garmin G-510 ? Comparisons? LIKES and Dislikes of each?

Wonder if it's possibly to hook up a 4-port hub to it... I have a Jensen double din right now, great features, but poor execution all around. Debating between this, or just build a car pc.
