While its electric compact nears production, Nissan also plans to produce an electric sports car bearing the Infiniti badge.

Sources told Edmunds Inside Line that the carmaker is considering either an all-electric 370Z-E or an electric version of the Essence Coupe, the concept hybrid it revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. All that has been confirmed by Nissan in previous news statements about its future electric vehicle plans is that the car will be a "stylish, compact, high-performance four-seat luxury Infiniti with zero emissions."
