With this free adapter, the iPhone 4 can fit snugly in the TomTom Car Kit.

People who purchased their TomTom Car Kits before September 1 can head over to TomTom's site to claim their free adapter. To be fair, the adapter looks like nothing more than an adhesive-backed plastic shim, but hey, a free fix is a good fix. All TomTom iPhone Car Kits shipped after September 1 will include the iPhone 4 adapter plate in the box.
