Photos: Production hybrids

by Kevin Massy

As part of our retrospective of this season's auto shows, we've put together a roundup of new hybrids that are scheduled--or likely--to make it to market in the next year or so. Many of them are larger models that make use of the two-mode hybrid system jointly developed by a consortium of major automakers that are scrambling to clean up their fleets.

See our round up of production hybrids here.

Of the 9 vehicles pictured (the Malibu's in there 2x), 8 of them are SUVs/Trucks... talk about missing the point. It would seem to me that if automakers/Americans were interested in fuel economy, they'd move their focus to smaller hybrids. But perhaps the rising gas prices will be enough of a slap in the face to make us get serious.
