MWC Day 2 wrap-up
A wrap-up of the second day of Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, Spain.
The HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa, the so-called Facebook phones
(Credit: Bonnie Cha/CNET)The second day of Mobile World Congress has come to a close, and while it's a little slower than the last few days, there was still plenty to see in Barcelona.
The big news of the day was from HTC, which introduced several new phones including the so-called "Facebook phones"--the HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa--which apparently might have Android OS 2.4. It also announced the HTC Incredible S, the Wildfire S, and the Desire S. HTC also jumped on the tablet bandwagon with the 7-inch HTC Flyer.
Speaking of tablets, we took a hands-on look at T-Mobile's new G-Slate tablet by LG. ViewSonic also announced its upcoming tablet, the ViewPad 4.
In other mobile news, operators are still battling regulators, carriers attempt to compete against native app stores, Verizon and Microsoft try to get cozy, Honeycomb gets its own video editor, and T-Mobile promises that we'll finally be able to use NFC chips for mobile payments in the U.S.
