Camera processors

How much weight do you put to the processor when looking for a new digital camera? For example, looking at the 40D vs. the Rebel XSi. In general the 40D would be accepted to be the better camera, but it uses the Digic II processor, where the Rebel uses (in theory) a lessor CMOS chip (I guess they are complimentary in Canon camera) but uses the newer Digic III processor. Or in the Nikon line, all the newer camera use their new Expeed processor, so does a lesser level camera (like the new D60) because of the newer better processor then have an advantage over older higher level camera (like the D200)? So, can a better processor make up for a lessor sensor?--Jay

I hate to say this, but I know many women (over the age of 12) that have Pink Digital Cameras. None of them would be "serious" photographers, and the most popular of them being the (relatively) new Canon SD1100 in "Melody Pink" which is at least somewhat subdued, and the Sony T2 which is an eye-seering over-saturated version of pink.

Just based on my own unscientific polling of family members, it seems that pink falls into two categories. Those that LOVE pink and want everything pink, and those that are offended that just slapping the color pink on it makes it a "female version" of a product. (The opinions were the same across cameras, cell phones, and even the Nintendo DS).

A pink DSLR? Heck to the absolutely no!! I don't care if I am a girl or like the color pink. What if I wanted to upgrade and sell mine? I'd never be able to sell it.

I should have definitely clarified in my previous comment. I would NEVER buy any pink camera equipment even if I planned on being buried with it. I have a lovely silver P&S and your standard black DSLR. Oh and my PDA phone is black/silver even though it does come in a pink model.

Hi Lori,

My late 86-year-old professor once stopped abruptly while we were walking back from a conference banquet in a luxurious hotel in Las Vegas, and he said to me, "Look at this beautiful marble ensemble on the floor." He paused for a moment, and continued, "It's useless to discuss taste with people." Perhaps that last glass of wine made him verbose.

Some prefer the Ionic, others Corinthian, for me, Doric is simply generous.

Pink is not my colour, but a pink DSLR? I need to grab a seat.
