iTunes 7.6 lets you manually manage iPhone music/videos

iTunes 7.6 adds a great new feature for iPhone users. You can now manually manage media on the device. This means you can drag and drop music and videos onto the iPhone icon to copy them to the device, or delete music and videos directly from the device while it is connected.

In order to enable this option, click on your iPhone in the left-hand pane of iTune 7.6, then click "Summary." Make sure the option for "Manually manage music and videos" is checked.

by enderwiggins23 January 16, 2008 6:36 AM PST: I am very happy that we can FINALLY Manually Manage music. One other feature we gained BACK (keep in mind other iPods do all these things normally) is that you can play songs on your phone through your computer speakers.

Now if we can just have the ability to write files to the hard drive and attach my phone to multiple computers then finally the iPhone can be as it was advertised -- the best iPod on the face of the earth. Until it gets parity with its other iPod brethren however, well... Its the worst iPod ever, IMO.; Like this Reply to this comment

I just got an iPhone 3G (firmware: v2.2, iTunes 8.0.2) and this feature seems to be disabled. I cannot play the music on iPhone thru the computer, and I cannot drag and drop music (even with the "Manually manage music and videos" checked.

Does anyone knows if they really revert it? How can I can make my iPhone to have this features. (My nano is able to do it).; Like this Reply to this comment


by pascaloz October 5, 2009 4:01 PM PDT: after checking the manually manage option, it usually ask you to apply, which usually do equally ask if you wanna sync or cancel, and i usuallyy cancel for fear of total delete; Like this Reply to this comment

I just bought a new laptop and hooked up my iphone to it and i wanted to play my music from it and it wouldnt let me. I checked the Manuel sync the music, and then click apply and it says its going to erase everything on my iphone so I just click cancel.
