Several users have reported an issue where bookmarks will not sync from Mac/Windows Safari to the iPhone. The option to sync can be toggled in iTunes under the "Information" tab while an iPhone is connected.

There are two potential fixes for this issue:

If you have a .Mac account and Mac OS X

Go to System Preferences and select .Mac. Click the Sync tab then press the Advanced... button in the lower-right corner. Next click Reset Sync Data in the lower-left and choose to replace the data on .Mac with the data on your computer.

Next, launch iSync (located in /Applications and choose Preferences from the iSync menu. Next, click Reset Sync History.

Re-attempt syncing your iPhone, making sure that the option to sync Safari bookmarks is turned on in iTunes.

If you don't have a .Mac account, are using Windows, or the above fix doesn't work

In Safari, go to the File menu and select Export Bookmarks. This will save all of your bookmarks in an HTML file. Next:

  • On a Mac Quit Safari if it is open. Navigate to ~/Library/Safari and move the file Bookmarks.plist to the Desktop or another location, then re-launch Safari. Select Import Bookmarks from the File menu and select the file you saved in the previous step. If bookmarks still won't sync, move the Bookmarks.plist file again and this time, don't re-import the bookmarks. Create a new, test bookmark in Safari and attempt syncing with the iPhone. If this works, you know that problematic bookmark data is at play. Manually rebuild your bookmarks.
  • On a Windows PC Quit Safari if it is open. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari and move the file Bookmarks.plist to another location, then re-launch Safari.
