ALERT: iPhone 1.1.4 can still be jailbroken; cannot be unofficially activated

Surprisingly, iPhone software/firmware update 1.1.4 can still be jailbroken -- for the use of unofficial third-party applications -- via some currently available methods, including ZiPhone (for full instructions, see this page). Previous software/firmware updates from Apple have broken jailbreak methods. (the tool "iJailbreak" does not work with 1.1.4)

After jailbreaking, the iPhone should be restarted once in order to restore normal phone functionality for devices used on authorized networks.

UPDATE: iPhones running software 1.1.4 used on unauthorized networks cannot be artificially activated with current tools. The developers of the jailbreak methods will need to do some additional work to get this process working again.

I have an iphone from france because i live in holland and france. The iphone is officially unlocked by orange france ans apple. The vodafone simcard from holland works fine (no visual voicemail) after the update to 1.1.4.

I have a iphone with 1.1.1 that is already jailbroken. To upgrade to 1.1.3 or the new 1.1.4, do I just plug the phone into Itunes and do the upgrade and then use ziphone? Or is there some other better method?

I had a Jail-broken 1.1.3 phone. I used iTunes to upgrade to 1.1.4 then ran ZiPhone and now have a perfectly working 1.1.4 phone (firmware upgrade included). The maker of Ziphone says not to use it yet, though, if you do not have AT&T.
