Contact search added to new iPhone OS 2.0 build (screenshots)

by Ben Wilson

Apple has added a contact search function to the new build of iPhone OS 2.0, 5A240d. The search function is also included with the revised iPhone Simulator that comes with the iPhone SDK build 9M2158a, beta 3. The search works much like iTunes search -- a live-refining list of result.

How about MacOS Spotlight-style systemwide search, pulling results from Contacts, Notes, Calendar, other apps?

Not one article showing this screen shot mentions the "Groups" button at the upper left. (Hello?) Does this button allow me to filter my contacts by groups created in Address Book? If so, that's something to celebrate.

er, where? I've been all over that app and I don't see a "groups" anything anywhere.

OK...now I see the groups button. I only ever had one group and for grins 'n' giggles I re-created it and added a second group. I did a new sync and *voila* there's the groups button. So, either there was something faulty in my one lone group or one needs more than one group for import to work. Either way, I am very glad about this. [BTW: I see evidence on the web that other folks don't seem to be getting the groups button in their contacts.]
