Apple has posted its fifth revision to the iPhone SDK (software development kit). The new release updates documentation and has various API changes. AddressBook APIs have been significantly revised, as have OpenGL-related components including the EAGL items.

The graphics changes in particular mean that some under-development applications will need to be re-written to take advantage of the new libraries.

I was hoping that the iPhone simulator in the SDK would provide me with a good way to create tutorials and other instructional materials on the iPhone and iPod touch. As it comes "out of the box," however, the simulator doesn't have even the appearance of all the default applications nor the means with which to add content.

Of course what I really want is the stuff that Steve Jobs uses to project the iPhone UI during his keynotes. That not being available, I had hoped that the simulator would enable me to make screen movies instead of trying to rely upon static screen shots.

Is there anyone out there hacking away at this with a similar objective in mind?
