Apple's engineering department still isn't sparing the horses for iPhone OS 3.0. It has released beta 3 to developers only two weeks after beta 2 was released.

Like most Apple updates, we suspect that the new beta 3 includes several stability and performance enhancements that might make the beta more pleasing to use, if you are testing it.

We've heard from some early beta testers complaining (see article comments) about the number of issues they were experiencing with the previous releases.

It is too early to tell what kinds of changes have been made in beta 3, but we suspect that it will not take long for people to discover them.

CNET had additional coverage about iPhone OS 3.0 here, here, here, and here.

World of Apple has republished the seed notes for the iPhone Beta 3 SDK, listing changes made to various components, such as Xcode, Interface Builder, and Dashcode.

Developers and beta testers, let us know about your experiences with this latest iPhone OS 3.0 beta in the comments.

I'm a dev. Biggest change-Youtube works. Improved stability. There's now an option to turn off the preview of texts without locking the phone.

From what I understand in the release notes this version of the beta can't be used to develop 2.2.1 apps so I won't be trying it out yet. Can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks

Iphone 3.0 Beta 3 - Summary.

The Good:
Much faster loading apps
No lag entering text on the keyboard
YouTube works now without setting up the phone as a new device (i.e You can do a restore from backup and YouTube Still works)

The Bad:
Audiobooks: are still not working. If you stop the audio and leave the Ipod app and go back in it doesn't remember where you were..It starts from the begining of the book

Ipod coverflow: The name of the Album/Artist has disappeared from coverflow. Now all you see as you scroll your albums is the album artwork.

More to follow.....

im currenly running beta 3 and im pretty sure that for push notificaions to work they have to be written in the app when developed and the SDK just came out so i do not think that they are out yet

I wanted to become a developer, but it's only for mac users, why don't they open it up for PC users too. I can't even get the beta
