Best Apple iPhone costume ever
Halloween is just around the corner and Reko Rivera (left, below) and John Savio (right, below) are ready with the best Apple iPhone costumes we've seen.
Rivera and Bobby Hartman spawned this idea in 2007 by creating a wearable iPhone costume using a real 37 inch LCD TV and an iPod. The iPod looped videos of recorded iPhone screens.
Fast forward to 2009, and the costume uses an actual iPhone to generate what you see on the now-larger 42-inch LCD TVs. Unfortunately, the screens are not touch-sensitive, but otherwise, the costume is pretty amazing.
The costumes each have (probably jailbroken) iPhones mounted on top and weigh 85 pounds each, thanks to the car battery required to power the display. The iPhone can be manipulated by the person wearing the costume--the interactions show up in real time on the LCD TV.
The team invested $2,000 in the two costumes, according to their YouTube post, and they are trying to recoup their investment by entering as many costume contests as they can find.
Awesome costumes, hope they make their money back. It'd be great if they could get the bodies from one of the Apple Store display large iPhones for this :)
