iSkin's colorful, form-fitting Solo line of iPhone cases has some of the slicker designs out there. Now the company has come out with the "special-edition" Solo FX SE, which sports a "luxurious outer surface treatment" that combines an "understated" matte finish with a "subtle," embossed, designer pattern.

Available in Onyx (black), Cosmo (pink), and Ice (white) for $34.99 (list), the Solo FX SE is the only Solo infused with Microban antimicrobial product protection that iSkin says prevents the growth of odor-and-stain-causing bacteria on the product.

This Solo is also the first to come with two different protective-screen films: one that's clear and one that's mirrored "and comes alive when the iPhone goes to sleep."

Comments? Anybody like iSkin's iPhone cases?

Hunkered down in New York City, Executive Editor David Carnoy covers the gamut of gadgets and writes his Fully Equipped column, which carries the tag line "The electronics you lust for." He's also the author of "Knife Music," a novel. E-mail David. Follow David on Twitter.

LOVE iSkin cases! Got one on my ipod classic, and iphone. They may run a bit more than other case, but the durability of the cases do go a long way

I love my iskin too. I liked to put the free stickers on the back but they wear off. I asked the company if I could buy more but they don't offer them like that. Oh well. My case is great, these look ok but I don't like patterns on mine, I have a plain black one.

Some of it is the cost of the materials used to make them, build quality, etc. Which is the same thing for games too, developer costs, manufacturing, etc. But you can always get cheaper cases on eBay as well. I got a nice one for around $14 shipped.(Transformers case with a Decepticon logo on back)

I use skin cases. They are very durable and gives the ipod/iphone more protection tan the average case. I am a very outdoor person so its a great thing for keeping my ipod as new.
