CNET has not reviewed the JVC Everio GZ-MG670 and GZ-MG680 standard-definition digital camcorders. However, they are primarily the same as the JVC Everio GZ-MS120, which has been reviewed.

The only differences between the models are size, storage media, and in-camera video upconversion. The slightly smaller MS120 has no fixed internal memory. Instead, it has two SD/SDHC memory card slots, but no included memory cards. Buyers must purchase an SD/SDHC card up to 32GB separately.

The JVC Everio GZ-MG670 and MG680 have internal 80GB and 120GB hard drives, respectively, for storage as well as a microSDHC card slot for expansion.

The MG680 and MG670 can also perform HD upconversion in-camera when outputting via their miniHDMI connections to an HDTV. This should deliver better quality than allowing the TV to do the conversion. Generally, showing SD video on an HDTV will not produce good results no matter what, but the HDMI signal alone is better than composite.
