Ringtone roundup: It's a little bit funny...

by Candace Lombardi

Adios, "Adios Amor Te Vas."

The "Pink Panther" ringtone by Henry Mancini swapped with you from No. 3 to No. 1 last week. Now this week you crawled back up to second place pushing Mancini to third, only to be bested by Elton John's "Your Song."

Whether or not Sir Elton John's "Your Song" sans Ewan McGregor is really worthy of first-place ringtone status in America, is a debate for another site.

Still, it's good to be reminded of what's out there as an option for your own cell phone (aka the purpose of this blog.)

Of greatest interest to the CNET crowd is probably the resurgence of Koji Kondo. While his fourth place "Super Mario Brothers Theme" has always been a likely ringtone choice for nostalgic gamers, no doubt the Wii's Super Paper Mario Brothers popularity has helped bring back the love.

And apparently people still have going to the "Candy Shop" on their mind while picking up their cell courtesy of 50 Cent and Olivia who are at No.5.

Of course, when it comes to ringtones, it's not about the song so much as the snippet. Still, it's nice to see some different things making it up in the charts. We all love the hip-hop on the phone, but let's change it up a bit. Shall we?
