Headphones with iPod controls

JayBird's Tiger Eyes are one of the better-looking choices.

Now that Apple is thoroughly touting the headphone remote capability of its various iPods, third-party headphone manufacturers are scrambling to provide products with integrated playback controls. One solution we've seen is the in-line remote cable attachment that can connect to any set of headphones, thereby letting you simply update your favorite pair.

Of course, if you need to upgrade from Apple's stock earbuds anyway, picking up a brand new model with the controls (and mic, if applicable) built-in makes more sense. There isn't a huge variety to choose from right now, but we managed to round up four sets of earphones that offer the feature.

Check out headphones with iPod controls.

My problem with earphones that have the built-in controls is that they're never gym friendly. Every pair I've owned have gotten moisture inside the controls, causing my iPod to randomly stop/start play at random intervals.

i personally like the Shure se110mpa's. They come with the shure MPA (music phone adapter) and they sound really great. Shure's warranty is unbeatable too.

Another helpful review would be to compare bluetooth headphones (stereo and mono) with ipod/iphone controls

What kinds of "remote capabilities" do these phones have? The reviews would be useful if they included this information. For example, Volume up/down, next track, previous track, pause, speed up, slow down, ...

@Jasmine: How on earth are the Klipsch Image S4i's left off of this list?! The S4's are your highest rated in-ear headphones (and are the only in-ear model in your "Top 5" of any type) AND the S4i has the iPod/iPhone controls. Seems like a glaring oversight. http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/klipsch-image-s4-earphones/4505-7877_7-33577358.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody

I didn't have confirmation that they had iPod controls until recently, but they are added now! There's also now a rating and editorial blurb for the Image S4i.

@rmattlage: Basically, they do what the stock iPod/iPhone headphones do.

I would be careful buying any Jaybird product. I got their bluetooth earbuds and they failed. Second set faild. Third set failed. None lasted more than 10 months. /Ipod controls were always hit or miss, but when I say failure, I mean NO sound. JB's customer service rep position (as reflected in an 11 msg email exchange) is that my one year warranty has expired. Maybe I got a year's worth of service out of the 3 units. But a lot of that was aggravation and no service. Be advised.

I'm not interested in buying new earphones. But I am interested in an in-line remote cable attachment. Can you point me to a few?
