"Better than you think"
Pros: Unbelievably Fast, Excellent Graphics, solid performance
Cons: Pricey, warm to the touch
Summary: Well, I read 11 reviews before I decided to buy mine from Newegg.com. Here's my take
1) The laptop is warm to the touch after being on for over 2 hours. The touchpad is warm (I use a mouse so it doesn't matter). The vent on the right side of the laptop is there, and the air coming out of it is warm. . . I assume that after extended exposure that your hand might become too hot. However, I am using a standard mouse, and my hand is no where near the vent.
2) This machine is lightining fast. I have two other machines an Intel 3.4 and an Ath $4000+ both top of the line in terms of other components. This machine, for routine applications like browsing, etc, is simply put better in terms of speed. I am very surprised by how rapid it is at everything that I have tried.
3) The screen is solid, not as nice as my Inspiron 700m screen nor as nice as the Hyundai LD09+ screen. However, it is solid.
4) World of warcraft runs beautifully at max settings (widescreen mode 1680x1050). Tapping the windows key to go from this full screen application to writing this review is as instantaneous as it gets. Likewise going back is immediate no delay whatsoever.
5) Speakers are intermediate from what I have available right now. I'd say they are nicer than the inspiron 700M to my ear, but not anything close to nice external sound system.
6) Haven't tried the camera, but it looks cool. Also, this laptop looks great. When I opened it in the office today. . . everyone stopped to take a look and commented on how pretty it is. The carbon fiber top is unreal to look at.
7) The LAN might or might not work out of the box. . .I'll never know. Given that I am a user that is willing to spend $2500 on a laptop I also check around before I buy. Therefore, I immediately fixed the LAN problem after the Acer instal was finished (takes about 30 minutes on first boot). Both CNET and Acers site have all the details you need to know. My take on this matter is that if you are willing to spend that type of money you better know how to type a command line. . .
8) This laptop booted perfectly from the box for me.
9) Fat32 - you can change it if you want. Partitioned drives? I would have done this myself, again you can change it.
10) Acer support? - don't know haven't had to call.
In short, it have some quirks, but I like it alot.
