"If you can drop the dough, this is for you"

Pros: Blazing Speed,Very Portable, Great Options for Customization, Good Customer Support

    Cons: Price, Questionable Quality Control

Summary: I originally had ordered the Area 51m but then decided to change to the lighter more portable Sentia. The customer service people were more than accommodating. They happily changed my order, even though they had started building my Area 51. It arrived a little later than had been forecasted but still within a reasonable amount of time since ordering, about 2 weeks. The specs on mine were: 2.1 GHZ Pentium M, 2 Gigs of Ram and a 7200 RPM 60 Gb Hard Drive. The total price tag was a little less than $2,600 before the $400 rebate. As I said, it is costly.

MY ONLY MAJOR COMPLAINT. When I first turned the computer on I at once noticed there was no sound. Since I am somewhat technically adept I traced it down to a missing driver for the sound card. It took only a few minutes to install it, but it did bring up a few doubts as to how thoroughly they execute their 200 point quality control system.

Overall, I am very pleased with the computer, the screen is great, the speed is amazing, and the battery is quite good. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

As much as any company hates to admit it, none of them produce a consistently perfect product. Every company makes lemons, Alienware, Dell, Toshiba, and yes even Apple. It always good to take it with a grain of salt and keep in mind that people who are dissatisfied with a product are more inclined to spend their time posting about how poor a product it is.

After about 6 weeks, I brought my Sentia with me to school after evacuating New Orleans (I was going to be a student at Tulane) and relocating to Austin. As I turned the computer on I almost immediately noticed something was wrong. To make a long story short in order to save you the reading. I found out later that the hard drive was severely corrupted. Luckily, for Alienware this occurred days after the money-back guarantee expired. Customer support changes drastically for the customers as soon as this happens. I never spoke to the same person twice. And in the end they acted as if they were doing me a favor by mailing me a new hard drive so that I could install it myself. It is unnacceptable for a product that cost this much to only function for a little more than a month. As of now I am talking with American Express and am considering legal action.

My system did not start upon arrival.. it was dead and AW wants to charge me 15% re-stocking fee for a dead system!!!!!!

It was beeping when I try to start it... obviously the ram or something major is faulty and they say it could be shipping damage. I sat by with their technical support guys who know nothing.. i mean nothing at all about computers, even as much as my sister and they made me do tests for hours. I just lost it nad wanted a replacement, but they want 15% re-stocking fee for a defective system!!!

Their system does not comply with FCC standards.. a lable below clearly states that "system has not been tested after assembly".. how the hell do they ship it the, Their website clains they do a 200 point inspection.. what full of lies!!!!!

Don't beleive the postitive reviewers.. especially the ones who write big big reviews. It may stun you, but notebookforums.com folks are either AW employees or paid to try to fool people into buying AW. No company in the world will sell their computer without testing, without FCC compliance and charge 15% re-stocking fee for return of a totally defective computer.

I just have a quick question for you Gabe, if you don't mind, I'm currently shopping around for laptops and and the Sentia seemed to have everything I need except for one thing, a dedicated graphics module. I'm just wondering if the integrated intel video processor is capable of running some high end applications as well as some of the lastest games, thanks in advance.
